Hot Air Ballooning
We have come out to join the Balloon Festival going on everyday in the Hot Air Balloon Capital of the
world at Mareeba, in the Cairns Highlands (previously called the Atherton Tablelands), near Cairns,
Australia. Mareeba, a short drive from Cairns is one of the most picturesque, reliable locations for
hot air ballooning in Australia. The pilots and crew seem to understand and know what they are doing
and we all relaxed as the balloon glided over the scenic Cairns Highlands.
The balloon ride is like all balloon rides "breathtaking" and the panoramic views that will saw will
last for a life time in our memories.
They tell me that all of these balloons are made in Australia and they have heard of the other
"Balloon capital of the world" in Albuquerque, New Mexico, but theirs is the real balloon capital.
We don´t believe that statement as no more that 6 days ago we where flying Breezy Rider in the real
balloon capital of the world.
After the flight we where served a wonderful breakfast of champagne, fresh juices, eggs & bacon,
tropical fruits and a hot and cold buffet.
